Physiotherapy Bed Covers - FAQs

Q: How do I install Physio Covers onto my physio table?

A: They are super easy to get in place. Here’s a helpful video with tips and tricks for a professional finish.

Q: What if the buckles get in the way of the mechanics of my table?

A: Most Covers can be applied with the pad still attached to the table, however in this case you will want to:

  • remove the pad from your table (using a screwdriver or hand drill),
  • apply your Cover directly to the pad,
  • install the covered pad back onto your table.

Q: How do I decide which size cover is best for my plinth?

A: Getting the correct size of Cover for each pad is important, as a Cover that is too large will not have the nice snug fit that you’re looking for. To take your measurements for the perfect-sized Cover, please check out our video.

Q: Can Physio Covers be used on chiropractic tables as well?

A: We have found that the mechanics of the chiro tables don’t usually play well with the buckles and straps of our Covers. However, if you’re willing to open the “Pandora's box” of removing the pads from your tables, you do have the option of applying our Covers directly to the pads, and then installing the covered pad back onto your table. Before you go this route, be sure to confirm your measurements. If you need a custom-sized Cover, we are happy to help. Often Chiro beds are narrower than standard PT tables and our “standard width” Covers are too wide for chiro tables. For custom Covers please email physiocovers@gmail.com. To check your measurements here’s our how-to video

Q: Do you have a Physio Cover for pads with face-holes?

A: Unfortunately, we haven’t been able to crack the nut for creating a form-fitted Cover that has a face-hole. However, if you want to have a matching look to your tables with three-piece set of Physio Covers, we suggest ordering the Pillow with Pillow Case to rest on top of your face pad. Fun fact: our vinyl pillow cases will save you a lot of time doing laundry as you simply wipe them down alongside your table after each use, and as your pillows will be fully protected, they will last a loooooong time…saving you money.

Q: My cover was creased during shipping; how do I remove the crease?

A: If there are any creases in the vinyl from shipping, they will release within a week or so. For a quick fix: a hairdryer on the offending spot will warm the vinyl and release the crease. (An upholstery trade secret.)

Q: How fast do you ship orders out?

A: For the colours that we carry in stock (Black, Taupe, Dove, Greystone, Graphite, Royal, Forest, and Burgundy) we aim to ship them out within 4 business days…but it’s often sooner. For custom colour orders, we will likely need to special-order the vinyl, and your order could take up to an additional two weeks. All Covers are hand-made to order by Karl, a master upholsterer with almost 25 years of experience.

Q: How long will my Covers last?

A: The life of your physiotherapy bed covers depends on many variables: the intensity of your cleaning solution, the frequency of use, the frequency and intensity of heat applications, buckles/belts/buttons & even spurs rubbing against the covers also shorten the life of your covers. Generally, though – as our Covers are made of the VERY BEST medical grade vinyl available, they should last as long (or longer) than the vinyl your pads are currently upholstered with.

Q: What if I have a wide table, will your Covers still fit?

A: Our Covers are made to fit standard width PT tables (26-27” wide). If yours is a wide table, the Cover will “finish” on the side of your pads, rather than the underside, as intended. Though our Covers can be installed on wide tables, we encourage you to order custom covers, as the Cover finishing on the edge can often get caught by buckles and buttons as clients mount and dismount. For custom-sized Covers please email physiocovers@gmail.com

Q: Do you have a warranty?

A: We offer a 30-day warranty policy from the receipt of your order, against manufacturing defects. Due to the medical nature of our products, we are unable to accept returns for incorrect sizing and/or colour choices. Please double-check measurements and colours before placing your order. (But if you don’t though, we’ve got your back. We always follow up with each order, to confirm the measurements are correct before proceeding…just to be sure 😊). For the best colour match check out our online store for a PDF of our colour swatch.  However, we suggest ordering one of our swatch cards.

Q: Are you an upholstery shop too? Can you do my upholstery?

A: Yes we are! Our website is www.topsurfaceupholstery.com. If your clinic is located in Vancouver’s Lower Mainland, we can also assist with your upholstery reupholstery needs. To book your clinic for an upholstery service, please email topsurface1@gmail.com (Heads up - Karl will be asking you for pictures of all the pads you need fixed.)

Q: I see you do shoutouts to clients on your social media. How do I get in on that?

A: Sharing is caring! We love when clients share their pictures. If you send us your pics, we will do a shoutout to your clinic on both Facebook and Instagram. We might even add your pics to the photo gallery on our website. Feel free to add clinic members into your pics - we’re happy to do shoutouts to them too 😊. Please note, that you wave your legal rights to any pictures that you send to us for sharing.

Q: My Physio Cover moves around, is that normal?

A: If your Covers move around, that means you need to tighten them up.  Covers that move around can be a frustration to your clients and also put undue wear and tear on the seams of your Covers.

So, cinch ‘em up!

Q: How long have you been in business?

A: We have been doing upholstery for Physio Therapy clinics for 24 years. We came up with Physio Covers over the Covid lockdown when our PT clients shared their frustrations at how fast their upholstery was falling apart with the increased cleaning protocols. Our prototype Covers have been successfully doing their thang on local tables since 01/21 and we’ve been open for business since 06/21.

Q: Can I cover over the face-hole with a Physio Cover?

A: If you don’t mind losing the function of your face-hole, you can certainly cover over top of it with our Covers.

Q: If my upholstery is already damaged, do I need to do anything to the damaged area before putting on the Physio Cover?

A: We suggest covering the damage with tape first. Gorilla and Duct tape both work great.

Q: Why is my vinyl wearing out faster than it used to?

A: With Covid came increased cleaning protocols. Stronger cleaning solutions will “eat through” your vinyl at a faster rate.

Q: Do you have a referral program?

A: First off…thank you for wanting to share the Physio Cover love! As for the program, we don’t have it up and running yet, but we’re working on it. If you would like to participate in our referral program, be sure to add yourself to our mailing list, and we’ll reach out once it’s ready. The signup for that is at the bottom of our homepage.

Q: Should I get Physio Covers for all of my pads or just the damaged ones?

A: That is completely up to you. We’ve found a lot of our clients put our Covers overtop of every pad they have, to ensure their upholstery lasts as long as possible. Alternatively, a lot of clients will use Physio Covers as a quick-repair approach only on damage that’s already evident - delaying the call to the upholsterer, while keeping beds sanitizable and in working condition. Do what works best for you!

Q: Is there anything else I can do to extend the life of my upholstery?

A: Physio Covers, are EXCELLENT at extending the life of your upholstery, but for added protection against heat, you can always sandwich a small towel between your Physio Cover and the pad.

Q: I want your pillowcases, but I already have pillows. Do I have to buy pillows with the pillowcases?

A: You have the option to buy the pillowcases with, or without the pillow. Please note that our pillowcases are sized to fit pillows with the dimensions of 18” by 24”. If you want custom-sized pillowcases to fit the pillows you already have, we can do that too! Send us an email. 😊

Q: For choosing colours: should I order the swatch card, or is the PDF sufficient?

A: When in doubt, we suggest ordering the swatch card. Often the colour settings on computer monitors aren’t exactly dialed into the actual colours of real life. That said, if you’re just looking for an approximation of a colour, the PDF should do the trick. To order a swatch card, click here. For the PDF, please email physiocovers@gmail.com

Q: My order was $300 but I didn’t get free shipping. Why?

A: The $300 free shipping threshold is the amount of your order BEFORE TAX. Might we suggest adding an extra Cover or a pillow to your order? Then that free shipping is yours!

Q: What cleaning solution should I use on Physio Covers?

A: The cleaning solution that you currently you on your upholstery will also work for Physio Covers. Here's a quick video about cleaning solution ratios for optimum disinfecability.

Q: You say the width of your Covers are 30" but they are made for tables that are 26-27" wide...why the discrepancy?

A: Our Covers are intended to wrap around the top and sides of your pads and finish on the underside.  This gives them a sleek-looking finish and makes it so that clients don't catch buttons and buckles on the Covers as they get on and off of the tables...which helps to extend the life of your Covers.  The thickness of the board and foam of each pad can vary, giving pads varying heights..so it's not an exact science, but the 30" wide cover generally does the trick.  If you need extra wide covers, please email physiocovers@gmail.com and we can get you set up with custom covers for your tables.
